In Spring 2013, New York State administered the first ELA/Literacy and Mathematics Common Core tests intended to provide students, families, educators, and the public better measures of student proficiency in the knowledge and skills students need to succeed in college and careers. On this page you will find links to guidance for suggested data analyses. Within this document, you will find recommendations for the types of analyses that provide reliable inferences about student performance, as well as some analyses that should only be used with great caution. In addition, general guidelines are provided for analyzing performance at a student, classroom, school, and district level. This document will be helpful when deciding how best to analyze and use the data from the state test to support student learning as well as making smart decisions about how not to use or analyze these data.
