Scaffolding Learning during Starting the Day Routines
Participants and presenters together will document the steps students must follow to complete a Routine in the Animals domain. Modifications of a Routine using one scaffolding strategy will be demonstrated by the presenters, then the presenter and the participant together will use a second strategy to adapt the same Routine. Finally, participants will use a third strategy to make their own modification to a Routine. A case study will then be presented that features a preschooler who needs individualized instruction during Nursery Rhymes. Using the tool presented in Session 1, participants will then modify a Nursery Rhyme routine for this student according to one of the three scaffolding strategies. They will share their modifications with other participants.
