Grade 3 ELA Module 1, Unit 1, Lesson 8

Children on chalkboard

This lesson is the first formal writing instruction in Module 1. Emphasize to students that writing is more than just organizing their ideas or editing for conventions. In order to write well about something, you need to know a lot about it. Students have been building that knowledge during their reading, and may end up re-reading or building more knowledge as they write.
