In this lesson, students read and analyze a section from chapter 16 of The Autobiography of Malcolm X, pages 305–309 (from “I remembered that when an epidemic is about to hit” to “if not actually initiated—by only one man”), in which Malcolm X details his struggles within the Nation of Islam after the paternity scandals of Elijah Muhammad.
