Students choose one claim from the previous lesson to form a counterclaim in opposition to that claim. Students identify evidence to support their counterclaims and record that information on the Forming Counterclaims Tool before engaging in a peer review. Students use the Evidence-Based Claims Criteria Checklist to evaluate a peer’s counterclaim.
